Journal #2 May 30, 2012 We are on our way to ITALY!!!! We arrived at the Albuquerque Sunport this morning around 6 am with huge smiles on our faces. Our big group began to get our boarding passes and headed straight for security. As we all got to the gate we began to relax a little bit. I can not believe that the trip is here. UNM volleyball is finally on their way to ITALY! We were about to take off when the flight crew announced that they needed to service the plane. This was just a very minor set back on our way to Atlanta. Next thing we knew we were in the air around 830. Of course with having to be up so early, the team was primed and ready to go straight to sleep. I think most of us had our headphones on and were ready to relax on this 2.5 hour flight to Atlanta. The flight was a little bumpy but didn't really phase any of our naps :) As the crew came on the loudspeaker to tell us to prepare for landing, the girls and I began to collect our things and get ready to change planes. The flight has been pretty easy but we will see how everyone does on the flight from Atlanta to Milan! I'm glad to keep everyone updated and there is much more to come from the team about our adventures through Italy! P.S. Megan and I got left behind on the train trying to be courteous to others. I tried to put my foot in the door to stop it from closing but I got scared. Therefor Megan and I were left all on our lonesome in the Atlanta airport. We found our way back to the group just in time for lunch :) Jordan Russell #5
Journal entry 1: May 30, 2012 We all just got lunch in Atlanta at Pei Wei and are now lounging waiting for our flight to Milan. The day has been good so far. Everyone made it on time and had their passports. The flight to Atlanta was a little bouncy, so of course I was uneasy with that! Spirits are very high and there is much excitement for the upcoming days. This is such a great opportunity that we have. The chance to visit some great cities in Europe and play some really great volleyball! There is no question the team will be pushed and will grow from playing some international volleyball. Hopefully their lives will be enriched by the travels, people they meet, and the amazing things they will see. The trips I have been involved with in the past have been great and we are so fortunate. I wish all of our travel party a safe and wonderful trip! It is really great for me personally to have ny family with me on this trip and get to share this experience with them. All the prep is over lets get to Milan and get this adventure rolling. It will be great having Tim Kelly as our tour guide too. Tim has put this together for us and it will be fun as Tim always does a great job! Ciao everyone! See you in a couple weeks! Jeff

 Allison Buck
Coaches Lisa Beauchene and Jeff Nelson with the grads!
Former Lobos Amy Wong and Taylor Hadfield pose with Allison following the ceremony.
All three seniors together!!

Congratulations graduates!!  On Friday we were able to enjoy the Athletic Department Graduation Ceremony.  Both Allison Buck and Kelly Williamson got to walk across the stage (or just across the floor, stage is more dramatic!) and were presented with their cords that all student athletes receive before the big graduation ceremonies!  Kelly represented the student-athletes and gave a beautiful speech, although hard to hear at times as one of the speakers was blown.  It was a lovely little ceremony and a good excuse for some alums to come back to town to catch up!  (Thank you Amy Wong for the pictures! :))
